The official inauguration of the Badr-250 (B-250) at the 2025 Dubai Airshow was a defining moment for the UAE defence industry. It is the first light attack aircraft to be fully designed, developed and manufactured in the UAE, and the first of its kind in the region. The aircraft embodies a new era of sovereign capability. It is a clear expression of the UAE’s ambition to move from defence customer to defence producer.
Purpose built for demanding operational environments, the B-250 is engineered to deliver a wide spectrum of missions including close air support, armed intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, counter-insurgency, and advanced flight and mission training. Its dual tandem cockpit and single engine turboprop configuration offer high operational efficiency and extended endurance. Its value lies in a balance increasingly important to modern armed forces: performance, flexibility, endurance and affordability.
As part of its latest capability expansion, the B‑250 now supports airborne counter‑UAS operations - a critical addition that enables the aircraft to detect, track and engage modern aerial threats within a broader multi‑domain defence network. Designed, developed and manufactured by Generation 5 Holding, the B-250’s lightweight airframe is constructed entirely of carbon fibre, delivering exceptional manoeuvrability, endurance and agility. With its Pratt & Whitney PT6A‑68E engine generating 1,600 SHP, the aircraft achieves a maximum speed of 280 knots, with an endurance of up to 9 hours using external fuel tanks.
The B-250 carries a wide range of precision guided munitions, smart missiles, and laser guided bombs. Its integrated mission system includes an EO/IR gimbal, and fifth-generation avionics suite featuring a large area touchscreen display, & zero-zero ejection seats.
The B-250 sits within a growing family of aviation platforms, including the B-250T trainer, the WX 80 cloud seeding and weather research aircraft, the B-100 and B-150 aircraft, reflecting an ambitious Emirati vision to strengthen the country’s position in the advanced aerospace and defence industries sector, while reinforcing its status as a regional and global hub for innovation and development in military aviation.
